Truth and Other Things That Taste Bitter
Author

Column Introduction

I like my coffee black and my chocolate dark.  They may be bitter and sometimes leave a strange taste in the mouth, but it's the initial taste that gets you.  The shock.  The electricity right before the bitterness fully sets in.

Truth is a lot like black coffee.  Many people rather bury it in cream then take it straight, and when people can't hide it and have to take it as is it's hard to swallow.  But what comes with Truth?  Wisdom comes with Truth.  Wisdom can sting, it can hurt, but it also inspires.

We as a society have become to accustomed to adding sugar to the Truth.  Some even go so far as to get the truth as a Vente white peppermint Mocha.  Truly, is the coffee even there anymore?  So much sugar, so much to hide the bitterness that no shock comes, well, unless you count burning the tip of your tongue.

Well readers, I will make one promise to you now with this column:  I'm fresh out of sugar, and I always take my coffee black.  Topics such as Truth, Justice, Love, and Wisdom will be common, and as a society what these things mean to us.  But, I'm a seeker of Truth, a connoisseur of the bitter.  When I find something truly up to my tastes, I'll share a taste with all of you.

Whether you like it or not.
